Two dead, 23 injured in tragic Ebonyi road accident

A devastating road accident in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has left two people dead and 23 others injured.
The incident involved a 508 passenger bus carrying about 25 individuals, including children. Tragedy struck when the driver reportedly lost control while navigating a sharp bend.
The bus collided with another vehicle and somersaulted, leading to the fatalities and multiple injuries.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the victims, all originally from Ebonyi State but residing in Imo State, were returning from a burial ceremony held in Okporike, Abakaliki, when the crash occurred.
He said that a nine-month-old girl and an adult female died at the scene and were later confirmed dead at David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital (DUFUTH), Uburu.
The hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Agwu Nwogo, said 18 passengers, including the driver, are under treatment for fractures, lacerations, and brain injuries, with an 11-month-old child in critical condition on a respirator.
He said that four others with minor injuries were discharged.
