Singer Portable granted N1m bail in Saheed Osupa defamation case

Nigerian street-pop sensation, Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has been granted bail to the tune of N1 million following his recent arrest over allegations of defamation.
The bail was approved on Monday, April 14, 2025, after the singer made an appearance before a court in Kwara State.
Portable’s legal representative, Isaac Adebayo, confirmed that the court approved the bail following an oral plea submitted during the proceedings.
The case was initiated by Fuji music icon Okunola Saheed, popularly known as Saheed Osupa, who accused Portable of multiple offenses including criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, and conduct likely to provoke public unrest.
Speaking on the case, Adebayo said, “Saheed is claiming that he (Portable) defamed his character, intimidated him, and other allegations. We were at the police station, and the man begged him—Portable begged him, the CP begged, but he said no.”
“Although the conditions are a bit stringent, but we will meet up. He was asked to provide the Kwara State Chairman of PMAN as a surety, another person with a landed property in GRA, and one million naira in like sum,” Adebayo added.
