Pro-Emergency Rule Women Rally erupts in Rivers, declare support for Sole Administrator

A group of women in Port Harcourt staged a solidarity walk on Monday in support of the emergency rule declared in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu.
Dressed in white attire and carrying placards with messages such as “Prosecute the bombers of Rivers Assembly” and “State of Emergency is Constitutional,” the women moved through major streets in the Rivers State capital, chanting solidarity songs in support of the ongoing political intervention.
The demonstration comes just days after another group of women protested against the emergency rule, demanding the reinstatement of suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Last Friday, the anti-emergency protesters called on former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Muhammadu Buhari, and Goodluck Jonathan to intervene in restoring constitutional order to the state.
President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers on March 18, 2025, citing an ongoing political crisis. He also suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and members of the state House of Assembly for an initial six-month period.
In their place, Tinubu appointed retired naval chief Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas as the sole administrator to oversee the affairs of the oil-rich state.
The pro-emergency demonstrators expressed strong support for Ibas, urging him to remain firm and focused in stabilizing governance in the state.
