Jesus never associated with the poor – Pastor Ibiyeomie

In a recent sermon that has sparked widespread discussion, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, the founder of Salvation Ministries, asserted that Jesus Christ did not support poverty during His time on earth.
The statement, which went viral on Sunday, has drawn attention for its controversial interpretation of biblical teachings.
According to Pastor Ibiyeomie, Jesus never visited the house of a poor person, emphasizing that this reflects God’s opposition to poverty.
He further suggested that Jesus’ death and resurrection were not only for salvation but also to help believers rise above poverty.
The pastor went on to state that any Christian still living in poverty lacks a proper understanding of spiritual principles. This message has stirred debates within the Christian community about the relationship between faith and financial prosperity.
Ibiyeomie said, “Jesus never visited any poor person in his house, check your bible. That means he hates poverty. He visited Lazarus, they were not poor, they were giving him food.
“He visited a sinner, Zacchaeus, who was rich. Tell me one poor man Jesus entered his house. He hates poverty, that’s the meaning. He hates people who are poor. He died for you not to be poor. How can you now come to church with some kind of mentality?
“You can come poor but you’re not permitted to remain poor. There’s nothing wrong with you coming to Christ as a poor man, but it’s wrong for you to remain poor. It is wrong.”
