Two dead as RSF attack Refugee Camp in North Darfur

A deadly attack near El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, has left at least two people dead, with reports of “intense bombardments” and explosive drones seen over the city, according to a local volunteer aid group.

The assault was carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), led by Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, in its ongoing conflict against Sudan’s military under Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.

Since April 2023, the war has led to what the United Nations calls the worst hunger and displacement crisis in the world, with over 12 million people forced from their homes and tens of thousands killed.

Although Sudan’s army recently reclaimed the capital, Khartoum, the country remains deeply divided, with the military controlling the east and north, while the RSF dominates much of Darfur in the west and parts of the south.

El-Fasher is the last government-controlled state capital in Darfur, despite months of siege by the RSF.

Meanwhile, in South Kordofan, the RSF announced on Monday that it had killed several soldiers and forced the army out of the Khor al-Daleb region.

This area is near territories controlled by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, which has aligned itself with the RSF.
