Lightening strikes herder, 12 cows to death in Kaduna

A tragic incident has struck Matuak Giwa, Bondon District, Moro’a Chiefdom, in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, as a young herder and 12 of his cattle were killed by lightning.  

The Village Head of Matuak Giwa, Simon Ayuba, confirmed the incident on Monday, explaining that the herder had been seeking shelter from the rain alongside his livestock when a sudden thunderstrike hit, instantly killing both the young man and his animals.

“The herder, along with 12 cows, died on the spot. It was a tragic occurrence that has left the community in shock,” Ayuba said.

The Ardo of Bondon District, Tanko Isiyaka, also confirmed the incident, revealing that the deceased herder was from Bauchi State.

Expressing his sadness, Tanko called for prayers and support for the bereaved family.

The victim was laid to rest according to Islamic rites, leaving behind a grieving family struggling to come to terms with the sudden and tragic loss.
