Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) champions, Edo Queens FC, will go head-to-head with Abia Angels in a Matchday 9 encounter at the Umuahia Stadium, Abia State, on Wednesday.

Edo Queens, currently leading Group A with 20 points from eight matches, are eyeing their fifth away victory of the season.

The Benin-based team has remained unbeaten since the start of the campaign and will aim to extend their impressive form.

Meanwhile, Abia Angels will be determined to secure maximum points at home, but Edo Queens are well aware that a win in this crucial fixture would strengthen their position for a place in the Super 6.

The Super 6 will determine the league champions and the teams that will represent Nigeria in continental competitions.

Edo Queens’ coach, Moses Aduku has called for maximum concentration from his players, noting that a win in the game would brighten their chances of maintaining top spot and also keeping the Super Six hope alive.

Aduku who stated this while addressing the players on Tuesday in Umuahia, said his players should replicate the 5-0 win over the Angels when both sides met earlier this season.

He said, “We are here (Umuahia) for real business, and so I want us to remain focused. Let them know that you are the defending champions.

“You are aware that Edo Queens have not lost any game, so we should try and maintain that record and see every game as war. You humbled them in Benin by 5-0, you can still do the same in Umuahia.

“Last season, they defeated us in Benin, but we came to their home and beat them. I believe we can do it again. I have so much confidence in you girls and by the special grace of God we will go back to Benin with the three points.”
