Super Eagles’ World Cup hopes stalls after 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe

The Super Eagles were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against the Warriors of Zimbabwe in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.  

Nigeria took the lead in the 74th minute through star striker Victor Osimhen, but Zimbabwe responded late in the game to snatch a crucial point and deny the Super Eagles maximum points.

The result leaves Nigeria in fourth place in Group C, putting pressure on the team as they aim to secure qualification for the global tournament.

Head coach Eric Chelle and his squad will now turn their focus to upcoming fixtures as they seek to improve their standing in the group.
