ISWAP launch fresh attack on Military Base in Borno, kill three Soldiers, injure many others

At least three Nigerian soldiers have been killed following an attack by Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (BHT/ISWAP) terrorists on a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in the Wajiroko area of Borno State.
The attack, which took place around 10 p.m. on Monday, also left the Brigade Commander and two other soldiers injured.
According to military intelligence obtained on Tuesday, full details of the attack remain uncertain, but drone surveillance detected fire at the base, and some troops were seen retreating toward Sabongari, suggesting that insurgents may have overrun the facility.
A military signal reported that the attack led to a call for air support and the deployment of reinforcement troops. However, the first reinforcement team encountered an improvised explosive device (IED) along the main supply route. A second reinforcement team, led by Brigadier General UF Abubakar, was dispatched but also hit an IED between Damboa and Azir Bridge, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers and injuries to the Brigade Commander and two others.
The signal further stated: “The security situation remains unstable, and troops are on maximum alert.”
While the Nigerian military has yet to release an official statement on the incident, sources confirm that reinforcement efforts are ongoing, and security forces are assessing the situation in the area.
The identities of the deceased soldiers have been withheld pending notification of their families.
