Cristiano Ronaldo scored and missed a penalty as Portugal secured a dramatic extra-time victory over Denmark to advance to the UEFA Nations League semi-finals.

The match ended 3-3 on aggregate in regulation time, but Francisco Trincão gave Portugal the lead early in extra time after Kasper Schmeichel saved Gonçalo Ramos’ shot.

Ramos later sealed the victory with a close-range finish, making it 5-3 on aggregate.

Denmark took the lead on aggregate when Rasmus Kristensen’s header leveled the score on the night.

Ronaldo, who had a penalty saved earlier, put Portugal ahead in the 72nd minute, but Christian Eriksen quickly responded to bring Denmark back into contention.

Trincão’s late goal forced extra time before he and Ramos wrapped up the win.

Before the match, Bernardo Silva was honored for reaching 100 caps for Portugal. Portugal will now face Germany in the semi-finals after Julian Nagelsmann’s side defeated Italy 5-4 on aggregate.
