BREAKING: Inmates escape from Kogi Correctional Facility in early morning jailbreak

Twelve inmates escaped from the Federal Correctional Centre in Koton-Karfe, Kogi State, in the early hours of Monday, sparking security concerns.
Kogi State Information Commissioner, Kingsley Fanwo, described the incident as “unfortunate” and assured that the government, in collaboration with security agencies, is working to prevent a recurrence.
Authorities have already re-arrested one of the escapees, while investigations are ongoing to determine how the inmates managed to escape without causing structural damage. Fanwo hinted at possible internal sabotage and called for a thorough probe.
Governor Usman Ododo has directed security agencies to tighten measures to prevent further security breaches. Citizens have been urged to report any suspicious individuals, as those found harboring escapees will face legal consequences.
“There is no cause for panic,” Fanwo assured, emphasizing that the government remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property.
