A 20-year-old security guard, Polmi Dauda, has been killed in Bauchi State following an altercation near Larema Hotel, where he worked.

According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Bauchi State Police Command, Ahmed Wakil, the incident occurred on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

The victim was found severely injured and later succumbed to his wounds at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH).

The police, treating the case as potential culpable homicide, revealed that the altercation was linked to allegations of theft.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a group of individuals accused Polmi of stealing clothing and personal items belonging to a tenant.

The suspects identified in connection with the incident include Ibrahim Yahaya, a pharmacist at ATBU Teaching Hospital; Dr. Musa Awwal, a medical doctor at the same hospital; Imrana Ibrahim, a local businessman; and Zakariya’u Isah, another security guard.

Wakil confirmed that the suspects are in police custody as the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) continues its inquiry.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served, urging the public to remain calm and allow due process to take its course.
