Real Madrid secures historic Women’s Clasico win against Barcelona

Real Madrid Women secured their first-ever victory over Barcelona in the Liga F, winning 3-1 in a rain-soaked encounter in front of nearly 36,000 spectators.
Despite the defeat, Barcelona remains at the top of the standings, four points ahead of second-place Madrid.
Alba Redondo gave Real Madrid the lead just before halftime, but Caroline Graham Hansen equalized for Barcelona in the 67th minute. However, a controversial offside decision denied Jana Fernandez a goal that could have put Barcelona ahead, with no VAR available in Liga F to review the call.
Scottish forward Caroline Weir became Madrid’s hero, scoring in the 87th minute and adding another goal in stoppage time to seal the historic win.
Barcelona, who have dominated the Spanish top division for five consecutive years and completed a quadruple last season, suffered their second league defeat of the campaign. Their 46-match unbeaten streak in Liga F had already been broken by Levante in February.
Both teams now turn their attention to the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Madrid will face Arsenal on Wednesday, holding a 2-0 lead from the first leg of their quarter-final, while Barcelona will take on Wolfsburg on Thursday, leading 4-1.
