Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Rwanda in their CAF World Cup qualification Group C clash on Friday, with Victor Osimhen scoring both goals.

The Napoli striker opened the scoring in the 11th minute, converting a well-placed cross from Ademola Lookman. He then doubled Nigeria’s lead in first-half stoppage time (45+3’), sealing a vital win for the Eagles.

The match was physically intense, with Rwanda’s D. Bizimana receiving a yellow card in the 46th minute, while Wilfred Ndidi was booked for Nigeria in the 49th minute.

Despite Rwanda having 45% possession, they struggled to penetrate Nigeria’s solid defense, managing only two shots on target. The Super Eagles, on the other hand, recorded three shots on target and won eight corner kicks, displaying their dominance in attack.

The victory lifts Nigeria to fourth place in Group C with six points from five matches, keeping their qualification hopes alive. South Africa currently leads the group with 10 points, followed by Benin (8 points) and Rwanda (7 points).

Nigeria will now shift focus to their upcoming fixtures as they push to climb higher in the standings and secure a place in the next stage of the qualifiers.
