Veteran Nollywood Actress Nkechi Nweje is dead

The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, has been thrown into mourning following the passing of veteran actress Nkechi Nweje.

ThisDay Nigeria reports that Nweje died after a brief illness, leaving colleagues and fans heartbroken.

The news of her demise has electrified an outpouring of tributes from colleagues who described her as a talented and kind-hearted personality.

The likes of Stanley Ontop, Destiny Etiko, Chizzy Alichi, among others have taken to social media to mourn the late Nkechi Nweje.

Sharing pictures of Nkechi Nweje on his page, popular Producer Stanley Ontop confirmed the news by writing;

“Nollywood in tears as we lost one of our vibrant Nollywood actress @nkechi.nweje After a brief illness. Couldn’t post since morning because it was like a dream to me. Ezigbo Nwanyi Onitsha Rest in peace ma’am, my best friend, she always call me on phone advising me. The last time we spoke was during Queenth saga, she said Ontop stop. Am still speechless.”

Nkechi Nweje was known for her remarkable performances in Nollywood movies, often playing motherly roles and traditional characters.

This tragic loss comes amid a series of deaths in the industry, raising concerns about the welfare and health of Nollywood actors.
