Tinubu in closed-door meeting with Rivers Sole Administrator Ibok-Ete Ibas in Aso Rock

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently holding a meeting with the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), at the State House in Abuja.
Vice Admiral Ibas, a former Chief of Naval Staff, arrived at the State House at exactly 12:50 pm for discussions with the president.
The meeting follows Tinubu’s recent declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State due to the escalating political crisis.
On Tuesday evening, the president appointed Ibas to take charge of the state’s affairs, suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for an initial period of six months.
As part of his mandate, Ibas is expected to oversee governance but has no authority to enact new laws.
Meanwhile, President Tinubu stated that the judiciary in the state would remain independent despite the emergency measures.
