Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has officially vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in the state.

ThisDay Nigeria reports that Fubara left the seat of power on Wednesday morning, making way for the incoming Sole Administrator, Admiral Ekwe Ibas (rtd), who is expected to assume office soon.

A visit to the Government House revealed that the situation remained calm, with three armored personnel carriers stationed at the main entrance. Security sources confirmed that there had been a change of guard, as all previous security details attached to the Government House had been replaced.

“The governor left this morning, and the new administrator is yet to arrive. Security arrangements have been changed, and everything is currently peaceful,” a source disclosed.

Despite the political crisis, reports indicate that residents of Port Harcourt are going about their normal activities, with no visible signs of unrest.

President Tinubu had justified the state of emergency, citing worsening political tensions, pipeline vandalization, and the failure of stakeholders to resolve the crisis despite multiple interventions.
