Senate President Akpabio visits Wike amid Rivers political crisis

Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday paid a visit to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, at his residence in Abuja.
The meeting was disclosed in a statement by Lere Olayinka, the minister’s spokesman, via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
“The Uncommon Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, during his visit to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in his residence today,” Olayinka wrote.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been released regarding the purpose of the meeting.
However, the visit comes amid the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, where President Bola Tinubu recently declared a state of emergency and suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, has been at the center of the power struggle in the state, with his influence over the lawmakers of the state playing a key role in the crisis.
