The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently in a crisis meeting following the revocation order issued on its national headquarters land in Abuja.

ThisDay Nigeria reports that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, revoked the  land belonging to the PDP over non-payment of ground rent.

The revocation notice, dated March 13, 2025, was contained in a letter titled:

“Notice of Right of Occupancy with file no: MISC 81346 in respect of plot no: 243 within Central Area District, Abuja.”

The letter was signed by Chijioke Nwankwoeze, Director of Land Administration, FCT, who stated that the opposition party had failed to pay its annual ground rents from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025.

Reacting to the development, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, condemned the revocation order, describing it as “a drive towards totalitarianism and an attempt to stifle opposition.”

He further stated:

“The attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government to revoke the Right of Occupancy of the National Secretariat of the PDP is highly condemnable. It is aimed at stifling opposition in this country and, of course, a drive towards totalitarianism. This is a threat to democracy.”

Ologunagba also revealed that both the temporary and permanent PDP offices in Abuja were affected by the revocation order, including the party’s Wadata Plaza, which has been its headquarters for nearly two decades.

The PDP NWC is expected to issue a detailed response after concluding its emergency meeting.
