The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has revoked the right of occupancy granted to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for a plot of land in Abuja, where the party is constructing its new national secretariat.

The revocation, detailed in a notice signed by thFCTA’s Director of Land of the FCT Administration, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, was addressed to the PDP National Chairman.

The letter, dated March 13, 2025, cites the party’s failure to pay annual ground rents for nearly two decades, from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025, as the primary reason for the decision.

According to the FCTA, the PDP ignored multiple public notices issued since 2023, prompting the administration to act under Section 28 (5a and b) of the Land Use Act, which allows the government to reclaim land when occupants fail to meet their obligations.

“The subject property (Plot No. 243, Central Area, Cadastral Zone A00, Abuja) has thus reverted to the Federal Capital Territory Administration, and the Administration will take immediate possession thereof,” the notice states.

As at the time of this report, the PDP is yet to respond officially to the revocation.
