BREAKING: Another explosion rocks oil facility in Rivers State

Unconfirmed reports indicate that another explosion has occurred at an oil facility in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) of Rivers State.

A local source, who requested anonymity, alleged that the explosion happened on a manifold connecting a federal pipeline in the Okwawriwa area on Tuesday morning. The source explained that residents woke up to find a raging fire at the facility, which is located some distance from residential areas.

According to the source, the affected facility transports petroleum products from Seplat, Agip, and Shell, carrying supplies from ONELGA and parts of Imo State to Brass in Bayelsa State.

This incident comes less than 12 hours after another fire outbreak was reported on the Trans-Niger Pipeline, operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), which transports crude oil to Bonny Terminal.

At the time of reporting, it remains unclear whether the fires at both facilities were caused by human activities. However, the Rivers State Police Command had earlier confirmed an investigation into the Trans-Niger Pipeline explosion in Gokana LGA.

The police also stated that two individuals have been taken in for questioning regarding the incident.
