Kano Govt unveils Pay Parade System for payments of salary, vow to end unauthorized deductions

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has announced plans to implement a pay parade system across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to enhance transparency and verify the actual number of civil servants and their earnings.
Speaking on Monday while receiving a report from a committee led by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruq, Governor Yusuf reiterated his commitment to eliminating irregularities in salary payments.
The committee had been tasked with investigating unauthorized deductions affecting civil servants in the state.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, the governor assured workers that his administration would put an end to illegal salary deductions and uphold their rights.
“I assured civil servants during my campaign that illegal deductions and underpayments would not be tolerated. It is disheartening that these issues persist, but we are taking decisive steps to address them,” Governor Yusuf stated.
He commended the committee for its thorough investigation and pledged to carefully review and implement its recommendations to improve the welfare of state workers. The governor also expressed concern over discrepancies in salary payments caused by consulting firms engaged by the previous administration, promising to rectify the situation for greater efficiency.
“We will establish a high-powered committee to oversee the implementation of the pay parade system and ensure transparency in salary payments. Additionally, deductions linked to the National Housing Fund and other schemes will be thoroughly examined,” he added.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering support for civil servants and thanked the investigative committee for its dedication in uncovering financial irregularities.
