Bruno Fernandes shines as Man United thrash Leicester 3-0: as Spurs fall to Fulham

Manchester United stretched their unbeaten run in open play to seven matches with a convincing win over Leicester City, who continue to struggle in the Premier League.
Rasmus Højlund ended a long goal drought of 21 games by scoring United’s opener in the 28th minute. Alejandro Garnacho thought he had doubled the lead early in the second half, but his effort was ruled offside.
However, the Argentine eventually got his goal, with a quick strike that Leicester’s goalkeeper, Mads Hermansen, should have done better to stop.
United have now beaten Leicester in all four meetings this season, two of which saw Foxes’ current boss Ruud van Nistelrooy as interim manager at Old Trafford. Unfortunately, his time at King Power Stadium has not been as successful.
Leicester have now lost 13 of their last 14 league games, leaving them nine points adrift of safety. They also set an unwanted Premier League record, becoming the first team to go seven consecutive home matches without scoring.
Bruno Fernandes put the game beyond doubt with a spectacular goal from the edge of the box, marking his seventh goal in as many matches.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur’s struggles after European fixtures continued as they fell 2-0 to Fulham, just days after securing a Europa League quarter-final spot with a win over AZ Alkmaar.
Spurs have now won only three of their last 10 league games following midweek European matches.
“It’s been a difficult campaign for sure,” admitted Tottenham captain Son Heung-min. “But I feel we’ve lost too many games that we should have got something from, and this was one of those.”
Fulham, on the other hand, boosted their push for a Champions League spot with the victory, moving up to eighth place. They are now just four points behind the top four and three points away from the top five, which could guarantee European football next season.
The breakthrough came in the 78th minute when Rodrigo Muniz slotted home from an Andreas Pereira assist. Former Tottenham player Ryan Sessegnon then sealed the win with a stunning curler late on.
With the defeat, Spurs now sit in 14th place, trailing the top half by 10 points.
