His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a pragmatic and resilient figure in the political landscape, known for his ability to navigate complex rivalries without harboring deep-seated grudges.

Throughout his career, which spans decades and includes roles such as Nigeria’s Vice President from 1999 to 2007 under President Olusegun Obasanjo, Atiku has demonstrated a capacity to maintain working relationships even after political disagreements.

For instance, despite a well-documented fallout with Obasanjo during their tenure marked by allegations and a struggle for influence Atiku has consistently avoided personal vendettas, instead focusing on his political ambitions and policy goals.

His approach is evident in his repeated bids for the presidency, including his runs in 2007, 2019, and 2023 under different party platforms, such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Action Congress (AC).

Rather than letting past defeats or betrayals define him, Atiku has shown a willingness to reconcile with former adversaries when strategically beneficial.

For example, after leaving the PDP due to internal conflicts, he later returned to the party, mending ties with key figures to strengthen his political base.

This adaptability highlights his tendency to prioritize progress over resentment.

Atiku’s public persona also reflects this trait.

He often emphasizes unity, economic reform, and national development in his rhetoric, steering clear of bitter personal attacks even when critiquing opponents.

This reflects a statesmanlike maturity, portraying him as a leader who sees political competition as a means to an end, improving Nigeria rather than a platform for settling scores.

Atiku’s track record paints a picture of a politician who, while ambitious and persistent, opts for bridges over grudges in the volatile arena of Nigerian politics.

Abdul-Aziz Na’ibi Abubakar is a staunch supporter Atiku Abubakar.
