Chelsea secure deal for Sporting Lisbon wonderkid Geovany Quenda

Chelsea have reached an agreement in principle to sign 17-year-old Sporting Lisbon winger, Geovany Quenda, in a deal worth approximately £40 million.

The highly-rated Portuguese youngster is set to sign a seven-year contract with the Blues, with an option for an additional season. However, he will not officially join the club until 2026.

Chelsea view Quenda as a major addition to their attacking options, particularly on the flanks. Known for his versatility, dribbling ability, and pace, the Portugal Under-21 international has already earned three caps at that level.

Since breaking into Sporting Lisbon’s first team, Quenda has made 43 appearances, scoring two goals and providing eight assists.

Before sealing the move to Stamford Bridge, he was previously linked with a transfer to Manchester United, where he would have reunited with his former manager, Ruben Amorim, who played a key role in his early development.
