TETFund announces N2.86bn allocation for Public Universities in 2025 disbursement plan

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has unveiled its 2025 intervention disbursement plan, allocating N2.86 billion to each public university, while polytechnics and colleges of education will receive N1.99 billion and N2.18 billion, respectively.

TETFund’s Funding Priorities for 2025
TETFund Executive Secretary, Arch. Sonny Echono, stated that institutions must fully utilize their 2024 and previous allocations while ensuring a swift procurement process to access the 2025 disbursement. He emphasized that physical infrastructure development will focus on rehabilitating dilapidated facilities across institutions.
Key funding areas include:
Medical education: Expansion of medical infrastructure and adoption of simulation technology.
Energy & Security: Alternative power solutions and security upgrades for campuses.
Vocational & Skills Development: Upgrading engineering workshops and expanding the National Skills Development/TVET program.
Research & Innovation: Establishment of multipurpose research labs in major cities and new agricultural demonstration farms.

Echono urged institutions to maximize private-sector partnerships to reduce reliance on government funding, particularly for student infrastructure like hostels and research centers.
