The political crisis in Rivers State has deepened as the State House of Assembly has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi, over allegations of age falsification.

The matter was raised during Thursday’s plenary after the House Leader, Hon. Major Jack, presented some documents to the Speaker. Following this, Deputy Speaker Hon. Dumle Maol alleged that the documents suggested that Justice Amadi had altered his age in official records.

“These documents before me simply say that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, falsified his age in service. Mr. Speaker, that is a very serious allegation, and I do hope that this House takes legislative notice,” Maol stated.

After deliberations, the House resolved to write a formal request to the DSS, asking the agency to investigate the claims and report back with its findings.

Speaker Martin Amaewhule noted, “The documents are only suggesting a case of age falsification by the Honourable Chief Judge of the state, Simeon Amadi. What it means is that there has to be an investigation to that effect.”

Following a vote, the House unanimously agreed to forward the request to the DSS, further intensifying the political tensions in the state.
