Wike dismisses Fubara’s letter to Rivers Assembly, calls if ‘Useless’

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticized Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s letter to the Rivers State House of Assembly, describing it as “useless.”
Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, made this statement on Wednesday while speaking with journalists in Abuja. He faulted Fubara’s approach in seeking an audience with the lawmakers regarding the implementation of the Supreme Court’s verdict on the state’s political affairs.
According to Wike, Speaker Martins Amaewhule and the Assembly members are not Fubara’s subordinates and should be treated with respect. He argued that rather than sending a public letter, the governor should have personally reached out to Amaewhule and his team via phone to arrange a meeting.
The political rift between Wike and his successor, Fubara, has continued to deepen, with tensions surrounding the control of the Rivers State Assembly and governance in the oil-rich state.
