Tinubu host Lagos Speaker Obasa, Lawmakers in Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, and other lawmakers at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The purpose of the meeting was not officially disclosed, but sources suggest it was related to the ongoing leadership crisis within the Lagos Assembly.
Obasa arrived at the Villa around 2:50 pm and was led to the President’s office, while his colleagues, who came earlier in two coaster buses, were taken through the forecourt route for the meeting.
After the discussions, which lasted until about 4:30 pm, the lawmakers were heard chanting, “On your mandate, we shall stand,” a slogan expressing their loyalty to Tinubu. Their voices echoed across the Villa’s forecourt as they made their way to their buses.
Obasa, who exited alongside House of Representatives member Rt. Hon. James Faleke, refused to address journalists waiting for details of the meeting. When asked how the meeting went, Faleke simply responded, “It went well.”
Unconfirmed reports suggest that some lawmakers may have apologized to Obasa over his recent impeachment.
Obasa was impeached by some of his colleagues but was reinstated on March 3, 2025, following the intervention of political stakeholders, including the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC). However, despite his reinstatement, tensions within the Assembly reportedly remain unresolved.
