BREAKING: Doors shut as Gov Fubara storm Rivers Assembly to re-present 2025 Budget

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, was unable to re-present the 2025 appropriation bill to the State House of Assembly on Wednesday, as he was denied access to the lawmakers’ sitting venue.
Fubara arrived at the Aba Road quarters, where the legislators have been holding their sessions, but found the premises deserted. No lawmakers were present to receive him, and security personnel at the gates were also absent.
This development is the latest in the ongoing power struggle between the governor and the Assembly, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule. The tension escalated following the Supreme Court’s ruling ordering the suspension of Rivers State’s statutory allocation payments by the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Attorney General of the Federation.
Fubara had earlier invited the lawmakers for a peace meeting, but they rejected his call.
Meanwhile, he failed to meet the 48-hour deadline set by the Assembly for the re-presentation of the 2025 budget, further deepening the political standoff in the state.
