EFCC arrests four Chinese, 27 others for alleged illegal mining in Jos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained four Chinese nationals and 27 Nigerians over their alleged involvement in illegal mining activities in Jos, Plateau State.
According to a statement by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale on Tuesday, the suspects were apprehended on Saturday at Jiasheng Nigeria Limited, located at Dura Rayfield, Mangu Road, Jos. The arrests followed credible intelligence linking the company to unauthorized mining operations.
Among those detained are suppliers found in possession of unprocessed solid minerals, believed to have been illegally extracted. During the raid, EFCC operatives recovered a truck loaded with eight bags of processed monazite, each weighing 1,000 kg and valued at approximately ₦4 million per bag.
The anti-graft agency has assured that the suspects will face prosecution once investigations are concluded.
