At least two people have been killed and 18 others injured following a large-scale drone attack on the Moscow region, marking one of Ukraine’s most significant strikes on the Russian capital since the war began.

According to Russian state media, the attack resulted in the deaths of two workers at a food distribution center in Domodedovo, just outside Moscow, after debris from the drones hit the facility.

Moscow regional governor Andrei Vorobyev confirmed that a 50-year-old man died in the hospital, while several others remain in critical condition, including a 43-year-old woman with severe intestinal injuries and a 44-year-old man with multiple wounds.

Russian authorities reported that 337 drones were launched during the assault, with 91 intercepted over Moscow.

The attack caused widespread damage, including destruction to seven apartments and over 40 vehicles.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said emergency evacuations were carried out for residents in affected buildings.

In response, Russian officials imposed temporary flight restrictions at major airports, including Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky, as well as in the Yaroslavl and Nizhny Novgorod regions.

However, flight operations have since resumed at Sheremetyevo Airport.

The attack comes just hours ahead of a critical meeting in Saudi Arabia between Ukrainian representatives and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The discussions aim to find a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing war, with Rubio suggesting that Ukraine might need to consider territorial concessions.

While Ukraine has not officially commented on the strikes, Kyiv has reported Russian drone attacks on multiple Ukrainian regions, including the capital.

Ukraine’s air force claimed to have shot down 79 of 126 Russian drones, along with an Iskander-M ballistic missile, while electronic warfare countermeasures likely prevented another 35 drones from reaching their targets.

With escalating drone warfare on both sides, tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue to mount as diplomatic efforts struggle to gain traction.
