Resign in 48hrs or face impeachment, Rivers APC to Gov Fubara

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, urging him to resign from office or face impeachment by the State House of Assembly.

The demand was made on Monday by the state APC chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, during a press briefing at his private residence in Port Harcourt. He accused Governor Fubara of disrespecting President Bola Tinubu while the president was making efforts to resolve the political crisis in the state.

“As a political party, we are today advising the governor; there are two options—resign honourably or be impeached. That is the position of the All Progressives Congress,” Okocha declared. “He has disrespected Mr. President, and we told him that we cannot be here and allow him to do so.”

According to Okocha, the Supreme Court has provided enough evidence against Fubara, making further investigations unnecessary. He insisted that the governor must step down immediately, stating, “48 hours is too much to give him as an ultimatum. He should just resign honourably.”

The situation in Rivers State remains tense as political tensions continue to escalate.
