2027: ‘What is coming is heavy’, PDP chieftain speaks on coalition

The former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, has hinted at a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking on AIT’s Focus Nigeria program, Ologbondiyan stated, “What is coming is heavy…” saying that Nigerians should remain hopeful as political shifts could bring about change.
Over the past months, discussions on forming a united opposition against President Bola Tinubu’s administration have intensified. Political leaders have explored collaborations among key opposition figures from the 2023 election, though no official alliance has been confirmed.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed rumors of his defection from the PDP.
In a statement released on Saturday, he reaffirmed his commitment to the party while emphasizing the need for opposition unity.
Atiku’s recent meetings with former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai have fueled speculation about a possible alliance.
El-Rufai has also been holding talks with other political figures, including former Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola and Pastor Tunde Bakare in Lagos.

Political analysts believe these engagements could signal a broader strategy to build a formidable coalition capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
