Edo Police arrest man caught with fresh human head, launch investigation

The Edo State Police Command has arrested and detained a 27-year-old man found in possession of a fresh human head in the Evbuotubu area of Benin City.

Confirming the incident on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, stated that the suspect was apprehended in the early hours of Friday by operatives of the Evbuotubu Division in collaboration with local vigilantes.

Upon interrogation, the suspect led officers to the location of a decapitated body near Eweka Shopping Plaza. The deceased was later identified as 43-year-old Edobor Lawrence, a resident of Osagie Street, Evbuotubu Quarters. His remains have since been moved to a hospital for preservation as investigations continue.

Edo State Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, has extended condolences to the victim’s family and assured the public that those responsible for the gruesome act will face justice. She also urged young people to pursue lawful means of livelihood rather than engaging in crime.

The police further called on residents to report any suspicious activities, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining security across the state.
